FAQS
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT, IT'S MY FIRST TIME GETTING A MASSAGE?
On your first visit you will complete a confidential health history form. Your therapist will assess and create a treatment plan for you. At this time it is important to inform your therapist if you have any medical conditions or are taking any medications. It is best to not eat for at least 90 minutes before your massage treatment. If you can't, eat a very light meal.
Most often there is no requirement to have a doctor's referral to see a Registered Massage Therapist. However, some extended health care plans, and insurers may require a referral before you will be covered. You need to check with your policy to see if you need one to be reimbursed for the treatments.

Most Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs/MTs) in Ontario are self-employed health professionals. Training to become an RMT in Ontario consists of a two to three-year diploma program from one of a number of recognized Massage Therapy schools in the province. Only people registered with the CMTO are permitted to use the protected titles “Registered Massage Therapist” or “Massage Therapist” and use the letters “RMT” or “MT” with their names. Both titles are equivalent and mean that the holder of the title is registered with the CMTO.
In addition to maintaining their registration with CMTO, RMTs in Ontario:
